This body of work is an ode to the Nupe craft of Bead making that once was an integral part of the culture in Bida (Nigeria). It was a craft of ‘Ancestral wisdom…preserved and transmitted to succeeding generations'. 
 
The concept behind un.earth[ed] was fuelled by the need to empower the community and the female makers within Bida. The development of this research has been a process of excavating, retrieving, uncovering and bringing to light the cultural artefacts of Bida.

The objects created represent the hidden individuals who  are  undervalued and perceived as non-vital, but to me, they are the true carriers of craft.
